After 40 years, the blue light specials are a mere memory of what used to be Kmart on Sandy Hollow in Rockford.

It had been reported last month that this retail giant was having financial trouble.

An iconic store that is based in neighboring Hoffman Estates is losing more money and that could mean the end of shopping for this store in Rockford.

Well this is a bit of good news. The old K-Mart and Sears Essentials building has been sold.
Now the question is what will be going in there?

Belvidere will soon have another empty building to fill.
