The Rockford School Board will meet Tuesday, October 27 to consider a proposal that would make the 2016-2017 school year a little longer for RPS 205 students.

According to WREX, the proposal suggests that schools start next year on August 17, 2016 and end on May 26, 2017.

The current school year began on August 24 and will end on May 27, 2016.

Starting school one week earlier may not seem like too big of a deal, but I can't help but think it's one more week that kids have to learn and teachers have to teach in extremely hot conditions.

What do you think? Is Rockford students starting a week earlier beneficial, or do you think it's a bad idea? Please let us know in the comment section below.
