Alaqua Cox, a 2015 graduate of the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan, Wisconsin, will star in a new Marvel series called "Echo" that begins streaming on Disney+ this January.

Wisconsin Native Is Marvel's Newest Star

If you're a fan of the series Hawkeye on Disney+, you probably already know who Alaqua Cox is, but for those who don't, Alaqua is a 26-year-old Wisconsin native. She was born and raised in the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin, and was born deaf.

Alaqua Cox is not only an amazing actress who just happens to be deaf, she is also an amputee who wears a prosthetic leg. I think you get my point now, Alaqua is one bad A$$ woman!

Alaqua graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Deaf, and her former art teacher, Susan Dupor, recently told WISN 12 News;

For her to be a Marvel character, I'm not surprised because that is who she is.

Alonqua Cox became a professional actress when her friends urged her to answer a Marvel casting call for a deaf female Native American for their upcoming Hawkeye series for Disney+, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Marvel Studio's New Show 'Echo'

Alaqua played "Maya Lopez", aka "Echo" in the Hawkeye series, and now her character, whose superpower is "photographic reflexes", is getting a spinoff of her very own. I must warn you that this new Marvel show is for mature audiences only.

Here's the trailer...

All five episodes of Echo will be available to stream on Disney+ starting January 9, 2024, so let's all watch them and cheer this kick-butt Wisconsinite on!
