A man in Wisconsin just found himself single and arrested after his proposal had a way too familiar ring to it.

Unique Wedding Proposal Stories

Almost everyone has their own proposal story to tell, some are romantic, some are funny, and some are very bad.

My proposal story happens to be both romantic and funny.

For one, I had absolutely no idea a proposal was coming, so my husband did real good there.

He told me he wanted to go for a walk around the lake at Baumann Park in Cherry Valley for his birthday, (yes, he proposed to me on his birthday). We had already done a lot of walking at another event that day so my feet hurt and I didn't want to go, but I gave in because it was his birthday.

At a gazebo halfway around the lake he had set up a picnic basket with champagne, and had a wrapped box on the table. Inside the box was an engraved music box that played the wedding march, and when he asked me if I knew what song it was playing, I was too embarrassed to admit that I knew what it was in case I was wrong.

That's not the funny part though, this is...

To pull off this surprise proposal my husband enlisted a friend to hide in the bushes and film the moment...the bushes he chose to hide in were right next to porta potties, and someone called the police about a creeper in the park! LOL!

Now that I have provided an example of a good proposal story, let's get to an epically bad one.

Wisconsin Man Proposes to Girlfriend With Stolen Ring

There's family heirloom engagement rings, and then there's this Wisconsin idiot.

I'm willing to bet that there are many people who have proposed to others with a stolen ring before, BUT I'm pretty sure none of those rings were actually stolen from the bride-to-be's mother!

According to The Freeman in Waukesha County, Wisconsin;

A Thiensville man was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Tuesday after he allegedly stole dozens of pieces of jewelry, purses and boots from the mother of his now-ex-girlfriend in a crime uncovered when the now-ex-girlfriend shared a photo announcing her engagement, wearing a ring her mother recognized as hers, according to a criminal complaint.

If you're wondering whether this theft took place before the man was dating his victim's daughter, the answer is no. The man was charged with stealing over $10,000 dollars worth of items from his ex-girlfriend's house back in January, and then used the ring to propose in February.

That, my friends, is a very special kind of stupid.

The Most Bizarre Items Ever Stolen From Illinois Residents

My mom once told me that "people will steal anything that's not nailed down." Times certainly have changed since then. The thieves now have nail removers.
