Every now and then you meet someone you know is destined for greatness. That certain someone that just rises above the rest with lots of hard work and dedication. Friday we lost one of those people according to ABCNews.go.com. Jaylon McKenzie, and 8th grade Illinois football player that was recently featured in Sports Illustrated magazine as one of 6 teens that will rule the future of sports was gunned down at a party Saturday night In Venice Illinois.

Mckenzie was a student at Central Junior High In Belleville. A I5 year old girl was also injured in the shooting. The boys mother, Said that witnesses told her that he was struck by a stray bullet after a fight started at the party. Sukeena Gunner, Jaylon's mother, said " It's so hard to fathom that someone took my baby from me because he dreamed so big". Last year in November, Jaylon told Sports Illustrated that his ultimate goal was to make the NFL.

On the scene, police found Jaylon and the 15 year old girl after they were shot and tried to give them life-saving measures but Jaylon McKenzie was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. Its so horrible to see someone with potential and great promise to have their life cut short in a situation like this. As for the female victim, see is in critical condition.
