Choosing a real Christmas tree each year is a beloved tradition for so many Rockford-area families, but now we're down one location to pick the perfect tree from in 2020.

The YMCA Retired Men's Club  has spent many Christmas seasons selling trees in Rockford's Highcrest Shopping Center but they'll be giving their wreaths, trees and roping a break this year in the interest of safety.

Loren Salzman, YMCA Retired Men’s Club Member, recently told WIFR;

This sale has allowed us to be part of that tradition as we have helped so many families who come back to us each year. We are saddened to cancel and plan to bring it back in 2021.”

Each year proceeds from the YMCA Retired Men's Club's annual Christmas tree sale help fund youth programs at the YMCA of Rock River Valley, and the loss of this income will be another sharp hit to a year full of losses for the YMCA.

I firmly believe programs available through the YMCA of Rock River Valley are a HUGE asset for this community, especially for young families, so PLEASE, if you are financially able, consider making a monetary donation to the YMCA today by clicking here.

Speaking of the YMCA, with the new COVID Tier 3 mitigations in place in Illinois, some activities and programs have changed at the Y. Stay up to date with all the changes, here.
