Winnebago County Cribs: Heart Of The City

On this week's edition of Winnebago County Cribs, we stay in the heart of Rockford. The house at 1919 N Mulford Rd. in Rockford is a 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom, more 5,800-square-feet home that is loaded with character and features. From granite counter tops, center islands, fireplaces and pool house, here are some of the amenities that make this house shine.

This is definitely the house that hosts all the holidays. The dining room is HUGE with beautiful hardwood floors and an elegant chandelier. The windows seem to let in a ton of natural light as well. Plus when everyone has had their fill of food, it opens up to a beautiful formal living room with fireplace.

The fireplace and mantle in the formal living room are a dark walnut that just adds the right touch of warmth to the room with the white flooring.

The family room has a brick fireplace and wood flooring and the wood beams across the ceiling make the room look much bigger. There's also lots of natural light and two ceiling fans to keep everyone comfortable.

The backyard appears to be straight out of a magazine. The landscaping and paved walkways are gorgeous. There's a jungle gym for the kids and plenty of yard space as well. That all leads to the in-ground pool and pool house.

I'm pretty sure the pool is bigger than the one at my first apartment complex. I can already picture a bunch of kids having a pool party while the dads man the grill and the moms enjoy the view from around the pool and pool house.

There is just one issue I have with the place from the pictures and that's the kitchen. The granite counter tops and cabinets are stunning, my issue lies in the size of it. It's a narrow kitchen but does offer a lot of counter space. Personally, I would prefer a little more room because whenever entertaining, the kitchen always seems to get filled with people. But then again, in a house this size, there's plenty of other rooms to congregate in.

All in all, this house is loaded with elegance, craftsmanship and beauty. At $624,900 it is still out of my price range, but I'd be happy to come do a few cannonballs into the pool.
