Why Has the Rockford Area Gone Purple?
At 2 years old, Livia Hubert was diagnosed with Sanfilippo syndrome, a fatal type of Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) which steals a person's ability to walk, talk and even make facial expressions.
On Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the age of 10, Livia Hubert lost her fight with Sanfilippo syndrome and officially gained her angel wings.
I just recently learned of Livia's story through a mutual friend as her family was entering the last few days of Livia's time on Earth. As my heart bled for this family coping with the loss of their precious child, I discovered that Livia touched a whole lot of lives and communities during her 10 short years.
This, my friends, is why you're seeing so much purple in the Rockford area. It's in honor of brave Livia and the heartbroken family she has left behind.
As Livia's disease progressed her family started a charitable foundation at LivLife.us to help raise awareness and find a cure for MPS disorders. It's not too late to honor Livia's memory so please consider making a donation in her name today. You can also do so via their gofundme page Support LIV-ing Life for Huberts.
Hubert family, we have never met, but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn a loss no parent should have to endure.
Funeral services for Livia Hubert will be this Saturday at City First Church in Rockford. Get more details here.
Livia, fly free sweet angel.
