The thrill of high-speed competition will return to Rockford this weekend as hundreds of America's top BMX riders roll into the Forest City for three days of competition.

Rockford Ready for a National BMX Showcase

The prestigious USA BMX Midwest Nationals is happening on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (June 19-21) at Rockford BMX with hundreds of riders and thousands of spectators from across the United States in town for championship-caliber racing.

The Midwest Nationals serve as stop No. 17 on the 2026 USA BMX National Series schedule, giving competitors a critical opportunity to earn valuable national ranking points.

Riders of all ages and skill levels will take to the track throughout the weekend, with every gate drop carrying significance in the race toward season-ending championships.

A Tradition for BMX Families

The event has become a longstanding tradition for BMX families, especially around Father's Day weekend. Many riders and parents travel together each year, turning competition into a family-centered celebration while enjoying one of the sport's premier national events.

It's exciting to see so many people travel from out of town to experience everything our city has to offer, and we're proud to continue a tradition that has become such an important event for both the sport of BMX and Rockford. -Garret Rapp, co-track operator and public relations representative for Rockford BMX

Months of planning go into preparing for one of the biggest weekends of the year for Rockford BMX, according to Garret Rapp, co-track operator.

Economic Impact Beyond the Track

Local tourism leaders say this event continues to highlight Rockford's reputation as a sports tourism destination.

With more than three decades now of hosting the Midwest Nationals, it shows the community's ability to put on large-scale events while generating economic benefits for our local businesses.
