Thousands of Illinois residents aren't receiving food stamp benefits and a transition to a new computer system is to blame.

Those who receive food stamps are asked to reapply every six months to receive benefits.

For many who went through the application process recently, they are still awaiting the approval to receive the food stamps.

The Illinois Department of Human Services rolled out a new computer system in October and while "14,000 to 15,000 cases per month" were canceled, the state canceled "41,000 cases on November 15." says WGNTV.

Since then "about 12,000 of which have been reinstated." but "More than 30,000 of those households remain without those benefits." per Fox 2 Now in St. Louis.
