I know it is only the first full day of fall, but I am a lady who likes to look ahead. Let's face it. We are just a hop, skip, jump, and few pumpkins away from winter. I can't help but wonder, what are the weather predictions for this winter?

Read it and weep, my friends. I hope you have your shovel ready.

Here's The Old Farmer's Almanac annual weather summary for our region this winter through summer:

Winter will be colder than normal, with the coldest periods in late December, throughout January, and in early February. Precipitation will be below normal in the east and near normal in the west. Snowfall will be above normal in most of the region, with the snowiest periods in mid-December, early and mid-January, and early February.

April and May will be warmer than normal, with near-normal rainfall.

Summer will be hotter than normal, with near-normal rainfall. The hottest periods will be in early June, mid- to late July, and mid- to late August."

They nailed last winter's forecast when they predicted it would be C-O-L-D. I think we better get our muscles ready for another season of shovelin' and shiverin'.

Don't blame me, I'm just the messenger.
