There’s an Ugly Building Tour in Illinois and, Surprisingly, It’s Not in Rockford
Look, I love Rockford, I truly do, but there are some ugly buildings in the area. Rockford isn't alone though, there is a much bigger city with ugly buildings too. It's Chicago.
Don't believe me? There is a guy who wants to take you on a walking tour to see some of the horrendous architecture in person.
HOW CAN A BUILDING "UGLY"
Come on, now. Ugly architecture is possible. But, on this walking tour, these buildings fall into a few different categories of ugly.
- Inception
- Disrepair
- Questionable renovations
- Ugly features
This walking tour, coincidentally called "Ugly Buildings Tour" is meant to be both fun and educational, according to the host's website.
This “educational roast” teases these buildings and creates a conversation on what makes a building pretty or ugly.
My favorite part in the information about this ugly buildings tour is "the content" he tosses into the tour itself because, let's be honest, you know he has to include a certain tower with a certain US president's name on it.
There are jokes about Trump Tower along with the person it is named after on this tour. There is also one swear word used, because it is an important part of a story.
If you don’t think you would find these kinds of jokes funny, I recommend choosing any other architectural tour, like Architecture’s Greatest Hits.
The 2-hour tour happens on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and will run you $30 per person, coincidentally, the same cost for the "Underground Donuts Tour", which also happens in Chicago.
