According to WIFR.com, The Water lantern Festival in Rockford scheduled for July 27th has now been cancelled. The festival is really a multiple U.S. city event, where floating lanterns are placed on the water across the U.S. They say the event has been cancelled due to lack of growth and low participation numbers.

The bad slash good news is that if you purchased tickets you will not be refunded. Instead, you can use your already purchased tickets at the events other sites like Chicago or Madison Wisconsin. The dates for those festivals are a bit different though. The Chicago version will be held at Humboldt Park on July 20th. Madison's Water Lantern Festival will be held at Warer park on August 2th. So if you did purchase tickets already you can still go but just at a different location. If you would like some more information on times and locations just click this link.
