Take The Kids On A Mini Train Ride This Summer In Milwaukee
These guys take their trains pretty seriously.
I don't have kids but from what I've heard, they pretty much all love trains.
Whether it's Thomas, the Metra, or some new cartoon I've never heard of, the locomotives seem to really speak to kids for some reason.
I had not heard of the Milwaukee Light Engineering Society (referred to as MLES from now on) before but have since found out that they're pretty awesome.
This isn't the little train that goes around the mall. This is a quarter mile loop with multiple paths and multiple engines. As you can see in the picture above, they even have legitimate steam engines. COOL!
Here's the best part. It's free. Donations are appreciated so keep that in mind. I'm sure after seeing the smiles on your kid's face you'll want to give until it hurts.
The only knock I have on the MLES is that they don't do a great job of keeping up their website. They haven't updated it this year. They DO have a Facebook account that has some information. They announced on there that opening weekend will be June 9 and 10 from 11A-4P.
Head over to their Facebook account for more updates.
