Swedes Are Coming To Rockford
Rockford is about to experience an influx of Swedish culture. More than 40 delegates from Canada and the United States representing the Swedish Council of America are in Rockford this week. Here's why.
According to the Rockford Register Star, delegates from Lidköping and Borgholm, Sweden, are coming to Rockford this week, April 21 to 26. They will be here to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Swedish Historical Society and the 40th anniversary of the Swedish Council of America.
The delegates will be attending special events and touring Rockford area sites for several days.
There's an open to the public ribbon cutting ceremony at the Swedish Historical Societies new Nordic Cultural Center, located at 327 S. Third St. (across from the Erlander Home Museum) this Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m.
Welcome our visiting friends with a simply American 'hello' or a Swedish 'hey hey' and let's show 'em some good old American Red, White and Blue fun while they stay in Rockford.
