Many have long waited for the day to come. The day they could walk into a store and buy legal marijuana. So many, in fact, that on the first day of recreational marijuana sales, Sunnyside Dispensary in Rockford started turning people away.

According to their Facebook page, around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, they stopped recreational sales. For those who showed up later, they were given a ticket that allows them to jump to the front of the line today.

If you plan on visiting, it's important to know that their parking lot is reserved for medical card carrying patients only. However, they will be offering free shuttle services. Because of the demand, a lot of products will be limited to one item per customer. Be prepared as lines have been long and wait times just to get in could take a few hours. As new dispensaries begin to open and the allure starts to wear off the waits will be decreased but for those planning for a quick trip, you've been warned.
