Sugarland Return Triumphantly With New Year’s Eve Performance [Watch]
It's been some time since Sugarland fans have been able to catch their favorite pair live. Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush have been off the radar as a duo for about five years now. So when they finally appeared together to announce their reunion at the 2017 Country Music Association Awards — promising new music, and a tour — excitement was, of course, high.
The two musicians more than kept their pact to make a splash in 2018, starting the year right off the bat by performing a medley of their biggest hits on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin' Eve in New York City's Times Square, including “Baby Girl,” “Want To,” “All I Want to Do,” "Stuck Like Glue" and "Something More."
A photo of the triumphant return showed up shortly after on Sugarland's Instagram account. "That was too much fun! Happy New Year to each and every one of you," the caption reads. "We can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store!" Neither can we!
Sugarland made their first live public appearance together in years at the 2017 CMA Awards on Nov. 8, presenting the Vocal Duo of the Year award. Nettles and Bush broke the news that they'd be reuniting for a tour on Dec. 5 during an appearance on Bobby Bones' radio show. That spot marked their first joint interview since they revealed their reunion plans the previous month. They followed that up by releasing the single "Still the Same" just before Christmas for fans to enjoy.
The duo went on hiatus in 2013, just two years after a tragic stage collapse before their scheduled set at the Indiana State Fair killed seven people. They have both pursued solo careers, but the hope of an eventual Sugarland reunion has always been on fans' minds.
