When most people in Illinois hear the phrase snow angel, they think of laying down in the snow and moving your arms and legs back and forth to make an angel shape.

In this case however, "Snow Angel" refers to a program I believe could be beneficial for many people throughout the Rockford area.

Winter Is Coming

I think we can all agree that the last few winters have been pretty mild in Illinois, but we all know some snow will fall every winter.

This fall as you begin to unearth your snowblower and shovels from your shed or garage, please consider one thing. Is it safe for your neighbor, friend, or family member to do their own shoveling this winter? If that answer is no, I came across a great program that could be very beneficial for people in this community.

The 'Snow Angel' Program

Clearing snow-filled driveways and sidewalks is a chore most people loathe each winter. For many people, shoveling their own driveway can pose some serious health dangers, so they are left with two choices. Pay someone else to do it, which can be very expensive, or rely on a good Samaritan to do it for them.

The other day this post from Do Good Wisconsin floated across my news feed, and I thought it was an awesome idea that would probably work wonders in Rockford too:

Would you be willing to give a little of your time to help a neighbor in need this winter? Is there already a similar program established in Rockford that I've never heard about before? Please send me an app message and tell me about it!
