Shoppers Rejoice, HyVee Is Moving Into an Old Kmart Not Too Far From Rockford
There's some exciting news brewing for the folks west of Rockford. (If only this could happen in Rockford too.) An empty Kmart will be redeveloped into what is one of my favorite grocery stores, Hy-Vee.
WHAT IS HY-VEE?
Hy-Vee is a supermarket chain around much of the midwest as well as towards the south. The name is a combo of the two original owners, according to the business' website.
WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT HY-VEE?
It's a supermarket where you can find pretty much anything. Yes, I know that can be said for most supermarkets but there's a uniqueness to it. It's all about personal preference though.
For me, I loved Hy-Vee when I lived in Springfield, Missouri. One of there stores was close to the gym I frequented which led to me popping by that particular store after every workout. Why? This specifc location had the biggest salad bar I had ever seen and including a million healthy eating options.
This might not be the case for all Hy-Vees and some have their own uniqueness. Some might have a burger joint (like Walhburgers) or other dining options.
WHERE WILL THIS NEW LOCATION BE?
Rockford is about to be almost exactly in the middle between the Sycamore location and, coming soon, Freeport. Yes, the former Kmart location in Pretzel City will be redeveloped into a Hy-Vee, according to WIFR.
Based on the report, it's all but official, so get ready for another shopping option in the Freeport area. The official location will be at 1880 S. West Avenue, in Freeport.
