Police On-Scene of Shooting Near Downtown Rockford Sandwich Shop

Rockford Police are asking the public to stay away from a downtown intersection while they investigate an apparent shooting.

According to the post on the @RockfordPD Twitter page at 12:12 pm today (Thursday 4/6), officers responded to the 300 block of E. State Street near the Jimmy John's Sandwich Shop for a shooting.

Rockford PD said "an adult male" was shot during the incident and currently have portions of the road closed near East State Street and First Street.

At least one store near the shooting has closed for the day. According to a social media post from Bath and Body Fusion located at 324 E. State Street, their Rockford location is "CLOSED the remainder of the day due to an incident in Downtown Rockford."
