
Dangerous Storms, Large Hail, Threat of Tornadoes for Illinois and Wisconsin Tonight
Most of the area will reach some of the warmest temperatures of the Spring on Monday (4/28), but that brings a threat of tornadoes and large hail to begin the week.
Tornadoes, Large Hail Threaten as Spring Temperatures Soar
According to the latest predictions from the National Weather Service, the Rockford region will have high temperatures in the low to mid-80s on Monday, with mostly sunny skies expected.

It will be breezy throughout Monday, with wind gusts over 40 mph likely. Along Lake Michigan in Chicagoland, a Gale Warning is in effect, with waves over 8 feet possible through Tuesday afternoon (4/29).
Cold Front to Trigger Severe Weather in Rockford Area
A cold front will move through the Rockford area late on Monday night and into Tuesday morning, bringing the potential for heavy rain, large hail, and tornadoes.
The latest forecast for the Rockford area from the Weather Channel is showing the risk is "likely" for severe weather today.

We are currently at the 2 out of 5 level risk for damaging winds up to 60 mph, large hail up to half-dollar-sized, and tornadoes.
There remains a conditional threat of thunderstorms late this evening and overnight as a cold front moves through the region. Any storms that develop would have the potential to be strong to severe. -National Weather Service
After the threat of severe thunderstorms ends on Tuesday afternoon, there are several days of rain predicted for the Rockford area before "April Showers" bring out "May Flowers."
Extended Forecast: "April Showers" Will Continue Right Into May
According to the extended forecast from the Weather Channel, there's a 25 percent chance of rain on Wednesday (April 30) when it is expected to otherwise be mostly cloudy and in the lower 60s.
For the 1st Day of May, expect rain and clouds to dominate with a 60 percent chance of showers currently in the forecast on Thursday (5/1), and another 25 percent chance of rain on Friday (5/2), with highs in the lower 60s.
