KWQC in the Quad Cities is reporting that the Hampton, Illinois Fire Department and the Illinois DNR have confirmed that a man from Rockford fell into the Mississippi River while fishing on Saturday, and as of Sunday, search parties have still not been able to locate him.

According to KWQC;

The call came in around 4:30 Saturday afternoon. A 35-year-old male fell into the water where we were told he was with his family at the popular fishing spot in Hampton, "Fisherman's Corner" where witnesses say he fell off the rocks, and into the river.

A witness told KWQC that someone did try to save the man after he fell into the water, but "there was nothing he could do".

The man's name has not been released, only that he is from Rockford, and crews are currently discussing how to continue the search process this week.
