Stateline Parent Launches GoFundMe to Save Roscoe Gym for Kids
Gymnastic Academy North in Roscoe, Illinois, has played a vital role in the development of children all over the Stateline area, and now they are facing a permanent closure if the community doesn't step up to help.
The Importance of Children's Sports
As a mom, I am a firm believer that every child should play sports at some point growing up. Learning how to work as a team and focus on a mutual task are incredibly important skills to develop at a young age, and playing on a sports team is a great way to do that.
I love that sports has given my two daughters a positive and safe environment to grow up in, and that they have developed several strong friendships with their teammates through the years.
If my daughters' sports future was threatened, what would I do? I would probably do the same thing this mom has done to try and save Gymnastics Academy North in Roscoe.
Fundraiser Established for Gymnastic Academy North
Recently, the owners of Gymnastic Academy North in Roscoe sent an email to their clients saying the gym would be temporarily closed due to a family emergency, but that isn't the only hurdle the owners have been dealing with.
A concerned parent named Kelsey Major, whose daughter attends classes at the school, has started a GoFundMe to help the owners and save Gymnastic Academy North from permanent closure:
If your kids go to Gymnastics Academy North I am sure you received the same email we did, and if your heart sank for them, like mine did then you understand why I am creating this. There has been multiple factors to the closing this week, including previous health issues and financial issues. This has led to them sitting with a hard decision to close the gym for good.
At the time, the fundraising goal is set at $3,000, and any donation amount will help. Whether you’ve had a child tumble there, attended a birthday party, or simply believe in supporting local spaces that lift our kids up, please consider making a donation today.
