As Christmas approaches all children are looking forward to a visit from Santa Claus, but what about animals waiting for their fur-ever home?

Well they received a special visit today from Santa Paws.

WREX reports that Operation Santa Paws is a special program set up by the employees of Woodward Governor and the Winnebago County Animal Services " to make sure animals in local shelters get things they need and want for Christmas, from toys to beds to treats.

According to the Winnebago County Animal Services website, how Operation Santa Paws works is as follows:

  • Woodward receives "cards" of current adoptable animals from local shelters.

  • Each card contains a photo, information about the animal and three wish list items that each animal would like "Santa Paws" to bring them.

    • Woodward members can decide to take a card, purchase and giftwrap the three wish list items.
    • Woodward will accept all types of donations for the entire kennel if any members does not wish to pick a specific animal.

The collection of the items began on December 1st and ran till December 17th. All the collected items were delivered to all the good doggie and kitties today by Santa Paws himself.

It's so nice to know that these wonderful loving animals waiting for homes are not forgotten until they are found a home.

Speaking of finding fur-ever homes did you see last week's pet of the week Cassie?
