As Halloween approaches, families in Rockford are getting ready for one of the most exciting community traditions: "Trunk or Treat"

These gatherings offer a safe and fun alternative to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, where kids can collect candy from creatively decorated car trunks while enjoying a festive, community atmosphere.

This year, Rockford residents can look forward to various "Trunk or Treat" events hosted by local organizations, including the Rockford Police Department, the YMCA, and several local businesses.

Safe, Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages

"Trunk or Treat" events are designed to bring the whole family together. Parents can relax knowing their little ghosts and goblins are in a secure environment, while children delight in the fun costumes, and interactive games, and load up on plenty of treats.

At each event, car trunks are transformed into themed displays, with decorations ranging from spooky haunted scenes to playful cartoon characters. This creates an exciting scavenger hunt as kids go from trunk to trunk, collecting candy and showing off their costumes.

Community Spirit at Its Best

Beyond the candy and costumes, "Trunk or Treat" events are about strengthening the community.

The Rockford Police Department’s event, for example, will bring families together in a friendly, welcoming setting, with officers on hand to greet kids and pass out treats on October 24, and the Northeast Family YMCA’s event with fun for all in Loves Park, offering activities like a bounce house.
