A lot about the 2020/2021 school year in Rockford is still up in the air, but the one thing we do know is, in-person classes will be back in session. What the school day is going to look like is still unknown, but social distancing practices are going to be a huge part of it, and because of that, bus routes will likely look very different in the Fall.

If Illinois guidelines require less kids on buses, obviously more bus drivers will be needed in RPS 205, and I am assuming that is one reason why the search has already begun.

If you need a job, or are looking for a career change, Rockford Public Schools are currently accepting applications for bus drivers for the 2020/2021 school year.

RPS 205 bus drivers receive:

  • $15/hour starting pay
  • Health insurance benefits
  • Paid holidays
  • 12 sick days
  • Paid training
  • $20,000 life insurance policy
  • Summer, winter and spring breaks

To be an RPS 205 bus driver you need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, good hearing and vision, and a commercial CDL license with a passenger endorsement. To see more qualifications or to fill out an application online, go here.

Just one last FYI for ya...if you have a Rockford Public Schools student, and you have not filled out their registrations forms for next year yet, the RPS 205 Administration Building is now open on 7th St. in Rockford.
