Rockford Public School District 205 upgraded boardroom furniture at a cost of $50,800. The table sits 16 total, is wheelchair accessible, and comes with a podium. Sounds fancy, right? According to rrstar.com, it is.

They were custom-built, using a rich, medium-brown walnut rather than basic oak or maple. They have built-in electrical outlets. They are ADA compliant. The main table is curved to be more welcoming to guests.

Through social media, people have been critical of the purchase because of the price tag. Two board members (Tim Rollins and Jude Makulec) commented on the puchase decision in an interview with rrstar.com.

... the tables are no more expensive than ones purchased by other government bodies and that the money used to buy the furniture comes from the rent BMO Harris Bank pays to use the building’s first floor.

If RPS 205 is making money off a tenant then it's hard to argue money being used to improve the building, including office furniture. Regard, it appears to be one of the biggest and prettiest tables I've ever seen. Click here to see the $50,000 desk.
