I don't know how you celebrated the 4th of July last summer, but my family did it with our own small, (and illegal) fireworks show in the driveway. (Shh, don't tell). We were fully intending on doing the same thing this year until the announcements came saying large-scale 4th of July celebrations and fireworks are back on this summer. (YAY!)

Now that traditional 4th of July plans are a go again, I feel it is my duty to fill you in on all the fun Rockford has on tap for this Independence Day.

Schedule of Events for Rockford's 2021 4th of July Celebration

Rockford's 4th of July Committee has been hard at work organizing a full day of Independence Day fun that begins at 9 a.m. on July 4th in several different locations throughout Downtown Rockford. Here's the full schedule of events from 4thandlights.com so you can plan accordingly;

  • 9am        Patriotic Prayer Breakfast, Location - Beattie Park
  • 4pm        Davis Park Opens
  • 4:40pm   Parade Master of Ceremonies, Freedom Bennett, Parade Grand Stand Stage at Wyman & State St
  • 4:40pm   Motorcycle Parade Begins
  • 5pm        Characters 2 Life (entertainment) presents Wonder Woman, Captain America, Face Painters, Children Lawn Games & more (Davis Park)
  • 5pm        Patriotic Parade Begins
  • 5:30pm   Swingbilly RFD (live entertainment), Block 5 Greenspace (across from City Hall)
  • 6pm        Rollin' Whiskey (live entertainment), Ingersoll Centennial Park
  • 6pm        Blind Date (live entertainment), Davis Park
  • 6:15pm   The Real Deal (live entertainment), Parade Grand Stand Stage at Wyman & State St
  • 6:30pm   Mr. Ed (live entertainment), Joe Marino Statue
  • 9:15pm   Davis Park Entrance Closes
  • 9:30pm   Fireworks begin  over Downtown Rockford, the show will also be broadcasted LIVE on TV with WTVO17 & Fox39
  • 10pm       Fireworks conclude, event ends

Here's a couple important things to remember; streets in Downtown Rockford will shut down at 3:30 p.m. on the 4th to get ready for the parade, and there is an admission fee to enter the festivities at Davis Park.
