Rockford’s Monday Morning Commute In Question On Alpine Road

Authorities are on the scene of an early morning fatal accident blamed on excessive speed. Police and investigators are present and the area of Alpine Road between Guilford Road and Highcrest Road is closed in both directions. The area has been closed since 12:45 a.m.

According to Rockford Police,

a male driver of a silver car was traveling northbound on North Alpine Road when he rear ended a gray sport utility vehicle which was also northbound on Alpine Road.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger in the silver car sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
