Branches thicker than 4 inches in diameter, tree stumps, root balls, dirt, and mulch are not eligible for collection. Additionally, each bag, can, or bundle must not exceed 50 pounds when loaded.

Alternatives for Yard Waste Disposal

Residents who miss the final collection week can take their yard waste to the Winnebago Landfill’s Rock River Compost Facility. This site accepts various types of landscape waste, providing a convenient alternative until regular city collection resumes.

Rockford residents are reminded not to mix yard waste with regular garbage or place it in plastic bags, as these will not be collected.
