Rockford to Take Part In National ‘Clear the Shelters Event’
On Saturday, August 19 Winnebago County Animal Services in Rockford will be joining over 700 other animal shelters across the country for one simple mission; finding forever homes for animals in need.
Every Wednesday we feature a new Q98.5 Pet of the Week from Winnebago County Animal Services with the hopes of finding the perfect home for another lovable fur baby. Sometimes they get adopted right away, and sometimes it takes a little while. The sad truth is, for every animal that gets adopted there are dozens of other ones still waiting.
I am a huge advocate for "Adopt Don't Shop" because I have no idea what my life would be like without my two adopted babies, Brooks and Urban.
Each of my dogs found themselves in need of new homes for different reasons, and those reasons never mattered to me. What does matter, is that I found them, and I will love them forever. They are great with my kids, protectors of our family, and frequent givers of kisses. I often wonder how anyone could ever let them go.
My point is this; animals you find at the shelter are just, or even more awesome, than any you can buy in a store. They just have a sadder start to their story and need you to be their hero.
If you've been considering adding another furry member to your family, clear August 19 on your calendar now.
