
Rockford Teen Charged in String of Vehicle Burglaries Across CIty
A teen male from Rockford is facing multiple charges after being connected with a series of vehicle burglaries around the city.
Initial Arrest on Sulkey Lane
According to the press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to a report of a vehicle burglary around 1:50 pm on Monday (7/21) in the 6200 block of Sulkey Lane.

When RPD arrived on the scene, they were able to locate and apprehend a 16-year-old juvenile male who was allegedly connected to the incident.
The teen was taken to the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the report.
Ongoing Investigation Uncovers More Incidents
Further investigation by the Rockford Police Department's Financial and Property Crimes Detectives led to the discovery of other burglary incidents that RPD believes the 16-year-old suspect was involved in.
As a result, more charges have been filed related to the following dates and locations:
- July 16 – 900 block of 21st Street
- July 18 – 2500 block of 17th Avenue
- July 20 – 5700 block of Heaton Court
- July 21 – 5600 block of Newburg Road (including Possession of Stolen Property)
Community Asked to Help
The charges against the juvenile are merely accusations, and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the RPD press release.
