
Rockford Teen Arrested After Caught Breaking Into Cars on Shaw St.
A teenager from Rockford was taken into custody over the weekend after allegedly attempting to break into vehicles on the city's southeast side.
Early Morning Disturbance on Shaw Street Leads to Arrest
According to a Rockford PD press release, officers responded to a suspicious activity call in the 600 block of Shaw Street at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday (4/6).

Callers reportedly told dispatch that a man was attempting to open parked car doors on the street. Shortly after, they located a suspect sitting in the driver's seat of a vehicle.
When the man noticed the police, he exited the car and began walking away before Rockford Police officers detained him.
Burglary Tools and Stolen Property Found
According to the report, the man was identified as 18-year-old Danarion Murphy, who was found with burglary tools and stolen property.

Authorities say the discovery of burglary tools let Rockford PD to further their investigation, and charges were authorized by the WInnebago County State's Attorney's Office.

Community Urged to Report Suspicious Activity
Charges against Murphiy are allegations, and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the press release from the Rockford PD.
The Rockford Police Department urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.
