Rockford Store Slows Its Roll When It Comes To Christmas
I swear I started seeing glimpses of Christmas towards the end of September and sighed with discontentment. Don't get me wrong, the winter holiday season is my favorite part of the year, but do stores really need to start "getting ready for the holidays" three months early? One Rockford store's "suits and ties" must have asked the same question because they'll be easing into the holidays like stepping into a hot bath.
The "Christmas Creep" might sound like someone you want to avoid over the holidays but actually its what some refer to when stores cram the Christmas spirit down your throat so quickly. Target will not be one of the stores this year they're "pushing back" the "Christmas Creep" but celebrating Thanksgiving and then transitioning to Christmas.
According to NBC News, Target is following its customers' wishes.
"They want us to pause, and be really intentional and recognize Thanksgiving," Rick Gomez, the retailer's chief marketing officer, told the Associated Press about the store's customers. "What they don't want us to do is go right into Christmas. So, we are going to respect that."
Don't be surprised if there is a little backlash by uber-Christmas lovers because someone is always offended by something. However, I think this is a great idea. Bring on Christmas but let's slow down the rush a little bit.
