The road crews are working hard right now on the reconstruction of the U.S. 20 and Route 2 interchange. They are replacing the 2 old bridges that have been there since the early '60s. They are removing the bridges and changing the traffic pattern of the cloverleaf to an intersection with stop lights. In the coming months, there will be flaggers all over the road for detours and crossovers. Some of the ramps will be closed periodically during this time as well according to RRstar.com.

State Troopers will also be monitoring the area to make sure motorists are driving at safe speeds and aren't driving distracted, which has already been a huge issue this year. State Trooper Brian Bottcher said, "Please be cognizant of the traffic, barricades and the workers present, He said if it allows please move over". The Illinois Department of Transportation said as the work continues, motorists should expect delays and try to plan accordingly.
