Four men are now being held in a Boone County Jail after a Rockford shooting investigation led to a search warrant in Belvidere.

Shooting Investigation Begins on Linden Road

According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Linden Road around 2:25 pm on January 14, 2026, after reports of a man being shot at while sitting inside his vehicle.

No injuries were reported at the scene, but the incident prompted an extended investigation by Rockford Police, including follow-up interviews and evidence collection related to the alleged shooting.

Search Warrant Executed in Belvidere

As the investigation progressed, detectives developed probable cause that led to a search warrant that was executed on Thursday, January 29, at a residence in Belvidere.

The Rockford PD Gang Unit were assisted by the Belvidere Police Department in the execution of the warrant, and was able to locate four individuals inside the Belvidere home, along with a handgun equipped with an automatic switch, and a rifle.

Charges Authorized by Boone County Prosecutors

Following a review of the evidence, the Boone County State's Attorney's Office authorized multiple charges.

Milkwon King, 22; Amonte King, 20; Jdynn King, 18; and Mardarion Whitlock, 18, all of Rockford, were each charged with Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID card and unlawful Use of a Weapon.

All four were lodged in the Boone County Jail, and the Rockford Police noted that the investigation remains active and that additional charges or arrests may follow.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Assistance

Authorities emphasized that all charges are accusations, and each defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
