A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in Panama City Beach, FL reading up on a city called Rockford. I was interviewing for the job here on Q 98.5 and wanted to see what I was getting into.

Just about every headline was crime related. I was going to take the job regardless because of all the family I have living in the area, but it was definitely eye opening to say the least.

The good news, according to FOX 2 NOW, are statistics released by the city’s police department. They show that violent crime fell 5 percent in 2017 from the previous year and property crime dropped 8 percent during the same period. Obviously the problem hasn't been "fixed" but it looks like we're on the right path to getting the job done.

Crime will never completely go away, but seeing it decline in your neighborhood is always a good thing. Poverty may play the biggest hand, but we all play a part. Don't put your head in the sand. If you see see something say something.
