Rockford Needs Your Sizzle for This Year’s 4th of July Parade
Remember in 2020 when we couldn't all gather in Downtown Rockford for the annual 4th of July Parade, fireworks, and festivities? Yeah, it sucked.
All of Rockford's patriotic fun is making a comeback in 2021, but now we have a very important mission to accomplish...we need to celebrate bigger than ever before!
Rockford's 4th of July Committee has been hard at work for months to make sure 2021's celebration was worth the wait, but they need our help to make it great. The committee is hoping to have more floats featured in this year's patriotic parade, and the time to sign up your family, organization, or business to participate is NOW.
Tom Luepkes, the Co-chairman of Rockford 4th of July Civic Committee, recently told mystateline.com;
In 2019, we had over 120 units in the parade,” Luepkes said. “Currently right now, 4 weeks away from the 4th, we have about 25 solid applicants that have sent applications back in.”
“I think a lot of it might be the fact that we received permission from the city a little bit later in the year than we have in years past.
I, for one, would love to see this year's 4th of July parade be one for the record books, so please fill out an application to participate now at 4thandlights.com/parade.
One last thing, if you're still concerned about attending events with large crowds this summer, Dr. Sandra Martell of the Winnebago County Health Department recently told mystateline.com; "the county could be on track to be 70% fully vaccinated by the holiday".
Perhaps that eases your mind a little bit?
