A Rockford man is probably counting his blessings right now because he was extremely lucky on Sunday. According to WIFR.com, Sunday morning in Rockford, Police were responding to a ShotSpotter alert around 2:30 am. The alert  tells them when and where a gun has been fired as well as how many times and what kind of gunfire there is. The alert was near the corner of Green and Waldo. There was a party going on in the vicinity and Winnebago Sheriff's deputies were already on scene.

Police said the victim was in his car near the intersection and was suddenly struck in the head by a stray bullet fragment. Police also say that another vehicle was fired at along with two different houses. The victim was taken to the hospital but amazingly his injuries were not life threatening.
