Shooting at Rockford Mobil Gas Station Leads to Multiple Arrests
A late-night disturbance at a Rockford gas station ended with gunfire, injuries, and multiple arrests after police responded to reports of a shooting on the city's north side.
Late-Night Shooting Investigation Unfolds in Rockford
According to the Rockford Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday (5/19) to the Mobil gas station on Halsted Road for reports of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 25-year-old male suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was identified as Deonte Davis of Rockford.
According to the report, investigators said a physical altercation involving several individuals occurred before shots were fired.
Suspect Arrested Near Riverside and Main
Police said officers quickly identified and located the shooter, Douglas Plaxico, a 19-year-old from Rockford. He was found near West Riverside Boulevard and North Main Street and taken into custody without incident.
Authorities also confirmed that two vehicles were struck during the shooting incident, though there were no additional injuries reported.

After reviewing the evidence gathered during the investigation, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office approved several charges against the two men involved in this incident:
Douglas Plaxico, 19, Rockford:
- Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
- Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm
- Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon
- No Valid FOID (Ineligible)
Deonte Davis, 25, Rockford:
- Domestic Battery
Both Men Now Held in County Jail
While Davis was initially transported to a local hospital for treatment, police later confirmed he was charged in connection with the incident and took him into custody.
Both men are currently being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
