The new normal in 2020 means making adjustments and the ability to start and stop at a moment's notice.

The NBA tipped off again last night, the MLB is making its way through the remainder of the schedule, the NFL looks to be a go, and we're getting closer to the return of the NHL.

That only leaves the minor league programs, including the AHL and our beloved Rockford IceHogs. What's going to happen with them?

Yesterday, American Hockey League (AHL) President and CEO Scott Howson announced the league start date would be pushed back to December 4, 2020.

The press release mentions the AHL "will continue to work with its member clubs to monitor developments and lock guidelines in all 31 league cities."

Starting later than normal could mean teams in the AHL will play a smaller slate of games or more games in fewer days. Either way, like every other sports league they may need to adjust on the fly.

As we continue to wade our way through 2020, making changes should come as no surprise. Just keep your fingers crossed. A Rockford IceHogs season would be good for the Forest City.
