UPDATED at 6:44 pm on Tuesday, August 13:

In a post on the Rockford Police Facebook page around 6:43 pm on Tuesday, authorities said 9-year-old Lamiyah Gatson of Rockford who had been missing for several hours, was found "near W. State and Avon."

Rockford PD said via Facebook, "Thank you to all of you for your assistance!"

Rockford Police are asking for the public's help in finding a girl who has been missing since early this afternoon (Tuesday 8/13).

In a post on the Rockford Police Department's Facebook page, 9-year-old Lamiyah Gatson was last seen in the 600 block of N. Rockton Avenue around 2:30 pm today (Tuesday).

According to the social media post, Lamiyah was possibly wearing a navy blue skirt and a pink t-shirt when she went missing.

Lamiyah Gatson is a black female, approximately 4 feet tall, weighs around 110 pounds, and has black hair in a side ponytail.

Rockford Police urge residents to call 911 or non-emergency at 815-966-2900 if you have any information or see Gatson. You can also send a tip to 847411 by texting RPDTIP along with your information.
