For ten years the Rockford Fire Department's softball team has competed in the National Fallen Firefighter Tournament in Las Vegas. Every year they head back west to give it their best. This year they won it all! They beat Cincinnati, Cleveland and Oceanside California. Chief Dan Zaccard and the team left it all on the field and took home the trophy.  One of the teammates Joe Hamblock, was named tournament MVP and was their designated home run hitter according to WIFR.com.

In the Semi finals the team took out Westchester New York 20 to 18. Rockford finished it off with a 10 run win on Thursday to clutch the championship.  Thanks to the fire department Rockford now has a championship team.
