Rockford Film Gets Oscar Nomm And So Did 3 Other Illinoisans
Bing Liu, of Rockford, picked up an Oscar nomination for "Minding The Gap". Every aspect of the documentary was handled in Rockford. How awesome is that? Along with Bing, three other Illinoisans were nominated for an Oscars and you'll immediately recognize their names.
Melissa McCarthy, originally from Plainfield, picked up her second Academy Awards nomination for her role of Lee Israel in "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" (Did you know Jenny McCarthy is her cousin? It's true!)
"Incredibles 2" picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. Its producer, John Walker, is a native of Elgin.
Dede Gardner (middle) is no stranger to winning an Academy Award. She already has two for "Best Picture", according to the Daily Herald. She has another nomination for "Vice".
The 91st Academy Awards are Sunday, February 24, at 7 p.m. on 13 WREX (ABC).
