One of Rockford, Illinois' most beloved local businesses just delivered some shocking news, but it's not as bad as it may sound.

Rockford Loves RAD

I don't think I'm alone when I say I LOVE Rockford Art Deli.

I love their unique and creative t-shirt designs. (No joke, I own at least 15 different shirt designs from RAD). I love the softness and quality of all the apparel they print, the vibe in the shop, but most of all,  I love how much Rockford Art Deli genuinely loves Rockford.

Rockford Art Deli is a constant supporter and cheerleader for our community, and I truly believe Downtown Rockford wouldn't see the growth it has enjoyed for the last decade if it didn't have RAD in their corner.

Now that you know just how much I love and respect Rockford Art Deli, I think you'll better understand why I freaked out a little bit when someone said to me the other day; "did you hear Rockford Art Deli is retiring the 815?"

Excuse me, WHAT?!?

RAD is the birthplace of the iconic "815" movement, a symbol of Rockford pride. Ten years ago, their simple design of the 815 area code in brackets splashed across t-shirts and hoodies took off and reunited our city. It became a badge of honor for Rockford residents, a way to rep our city with style, are they really just leaving that huge accomplishment in the rearview mirror?!?

Thankfully the answer is; not really.

Here's the big announcement from Rockford Art Deli...in case you missed it like I obviously did.

So, yes, the OG 815 design, (the one with the area code in brackets), will be retired soon, but there are plenty more awesome designs featuring our favorite area code to come in the future! (Thank goodness because my 815 wardrobe could use a refresh!)
