If cleaning, organizing and de-cluttering your home is a part of your plans for this weekend, you may have to hold onto that load of recyclables for a few days longer thanks to Mother Nature's bitter cold temperatures.

Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful has announced that both their Rockford and Roscoe recycling locations will be closed this Saturday, January 7 due to below zero wind chills. Both of these KNIB locations are run solely on volunteers, so it is standard practice to close the centers when temps dip below zero so staff does not have to endure unsafe weather conditions.

The Rockford center is located at 4665 Hydraulic Road and is typically open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, and from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturdays. The Roscoe center is located at 13125 North Second Street and is only open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to Noon.

For the complete list of items which are, and are not accepted for recycling year round at both centers visit knib.org.

Christmas tree recycling locations are still open though through January 15, 2017. See the complete list of drop off locations here.
