What You Need to Know About the Fate of Applebee’s in Rockford, Illinois
There's been a lot of talk surrounding the fate of Applebee's restaurants throughout the nation, but for once we get to share some good news instead of bad about one Rockford restaurant.
Is Applebee's on East State in Rockford Closed?
The other day my mom, (who lives very close to Applebee's in Rockford), called me, (who lives in Pecatonica), asking if and why the Applebee's on East State Street is closed.
I should be flattered that she thought I would know the answer to her important question, but it's been a minute since I've been out that way, so I had no idea what to tell her. So instead I said, "let me see if I can find something out".
Long story short; yes, the Applebee's on East State Street is closed...but not forever.
Why Is Applebee's in Rockford Closed?
Sweet Lenny and I talked to a listener recently who works at Applebee's, and she told us that the East State restaurant recently had a fire in the kitchen.
The good news? The fire was small and no one was hurt.
The bad news? The fire destroyed the HVAC system and they were forced to close the restaurant...for now.
Don't worry, Applebee's crew is already on the case. They're working hard to get the HVAC system back up and running with the hope that the restaurant can reopen in the next few months. (Keep your fingers crossed!)
In the meantime, if your hankering for some classic American eats is too strong to resist, you can always head over to their other location on Riverside Boulevard which is fully operational.
