Living in New Orleans for years I definitely know about road closures. From Festivals to Mardi Gras parades and everything in between, it can basically shut you off from the rest of the city depending on where you're at. There is an event coming Saturday that will cause some road closures but nothing like New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

According to WIFR.com, the 35th annual Swedish American State Street Mile with happen on Saturday. Lots of people will be out ready to get their fitness on which means road closures for us drivers. The city of Rockford gave info and all the closures and here they are. East State Street will be closed from the corner of N Wyman Street east to Madison at around 2:30pm for event set up. Between 4 and 8pm, East State Street from Madison east to Regan will be closed. Other smaller streets that cross State Street in those areas will also be closed. Water Street to East State Street to Market will also be affected.

The city asks that drivers be patient, take their time and keep an eye out for runners. There will be lots of police officers out so you better make sure to follow the rules.
