Rockfordians just experienced a snowfall that broke two records in one day. The amount of the snow measured at RFD is shocking.

Sunday afternoon people started singing "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." and went to bed singing "I'm.... dreaming.... of white... Christmas..." Many woke up celebrating a no school/no work snow day, while weather nerds like myself were quickly trying to find out how much snow officially hit Rockford. I found it and it's impressive. It's record-breaking, in fact.

Candice King, Chief Meteorologist for WTVO/FOX-39, said while Rockford got hit hard, some areas saw very little snow.

At Rockford Airport snow measurement was 11.7 inches so far (that was as of Midnight). Totals range from about 6”-13” – however far NW IL didn’t get hardly any snow!

Sunday's snowfall broke two records in one day. Officially, yesterday is the snowiest November 25th on record and it also breaks the previous November snow-fall record of 6.6 inches!

So, yeah it's beginning to look A LOT like Christmas.
