Hidden Illinois Farm Serves Up Anything But Boring Apple Treats
I'm not trying to punch the gas to get to fall folks but it's coming getting close. Summer doesn't end until three-quarters through September but it's not a crime to get excited about the next season. The dates when orchards, pumpkin patches, and fall-themed farms have already begun announcing their opening dates. There's a special farm in Illinois that you must add to your list of fall fun.
What makes a great farm for fall fun? There are so many answers to the latter. If there were one category that needs to be filled it's family fun. Going deeper into that category would have to include food because if you're going to spend more than an hour at one location with the fam you're going to need to eat and drink. A farm in Normal, Illinois has that category mastered and then some.

The above image is what you would see after your mood is incredibly high with positivity after consuming any of the deliciousness at Rader Family Farms. The one thing this view does not do justice to is the massive corn maze on the property. Clearly, this satellite image wasn't captured at a time when the maze was completed. But, let's not focus on that. We're here to highlight the fun and, more importantly, that fun four-letter f word, food.
Of course, Rader Family Farms has cheeseburgers, brats, pulled pork BBQ sandwiches, and chicken tenders. One of their dining areas, Barnyard Grill, serves their signature slop-the-hog sandwich. There are four dining places total along with a spot to grab a coffee, espresso, and sweet treats. It's also where you will find one of the most unique fall-themed treats in all of Illinois.
What is that drink? It's a cup full of heaven in your hand, although the technical name is Apple Slushy Silo Shake. They also serve up apple cider slushies and slushy floats. So, yes, you'll find fall decor, pumpkins and gourds, cute farm animals, photo ops, a corn maze, food, and treats that will satisfy true fall fanatics.
Rader Family Farms opens on September 10 at 1312 Ropp Rd., Normal, Illinois.
